Organization Profile
Peduli Konservasi Alam Indonesia (PEKA Indonesia) Foundation was established on 25 August 2000 in Bogor, West Java– Indonesia. Through our main programs in Research, Conservation Education and Community Development, we are promoting Ecosystem Health in Indonesia.
As part of Wildlife Trust Alliance (based in New York, USA), PEKA Indonesia continues international network with 16 alliance member institutions in 16 different countries all around the world, working on conservation research, education, and community network.
We see environmental conservation as an important societal goal which is meeting the need and aspiration of a growing population. Since these two goals are always coinciding, there is a case of urgent need of community based natural resource management. We believe that involving the community in environmental conservation agendas is an essential effort for Indonesia, because rural communities, particularly those surrounding conservation areas are the key actors who determine the way of managing the resources in a sustainable way.
